On Easter Sunday I was planting flowers at the base of a very large pine tree. Suddenly, I heard a crashing noise above me. I jumped up and ran but the dead limb that was falling hit me anyway. I'm lucky that it hit the ground and myself at the same time. The blunt force hit my right elbow, jerking my arm downward with such force that I nearly fell. The limb was over 6ft long with many branches along it which hit me in several places. The large end was approximately 5-6inches in diameter. We had had an ice storm 2yrs ago and apparantly the limb had been hanging up there ever since. It was far enough up that when I cleaned the gutter earlier that day I did not see it, even though I was on the roof. Since then I have been in agony. I have seen a surgeon who sent me for an MRI which showed disc protrusion in c5-c6 & in c6-c7 with neuroforaminal narrowing present (whatever that means) He has referred me to a pain management clinic. Aside from the pain in my upper back and shoulder I have pain in the front of my shoulder as well as in the joints of my shoulder and elbow along with tingling in my fingers and lower arm. I have pain in my armpit and along the bottom of my shoulder blade which runs around my side to my armpit. My arm is beginning to get weak. 3 days ago I had a second series of shots in my upper back, shoulder and neck, 8 of them altogether. There is no difference in the pain. I am currently taking Zanaflex 4mgs, Motrin 600mgs and Demerol 50-100mgs every 4hrs.(I am allergic to codeine and also percocet) While the pain eases I am never pain free. I have not slept more than 3hrs at a time and when I wake up the pain is so intense it gives me chest pains. I am usually up for at least 2-3hrs,trying moist heat or ice. I cannot go on like this. I am terrified and desperately hoping someone reading this can offer me advice or direct me to someone who can. Please help me. Thanks.
