Last year I took a two-week regimen of powerful antibiotics to eradicate the bacteria that was causing my bleeding ulcers. As far as I know I no longer have ulcers; but have traded that problem for another, a persistent yeast infection that has lasted over a year. It affects the inside of my hips area. My doctor prescribed Nystatin ointment, which wasn't effective. And now has me on Clotrimazole/Betamethasone Dipropionate Cream and 100 mg. Diflucan for 14 days. Can anyone tell me if this treatment has cured his yeast infection? Is this type of yeast infection (inside of hips, not penis)unusual in men? This morning I saw this statement on a webpage, "Yeast is not dangerous and unless its symptons, discharge and itchy, are bothersome, it is not necessary to treat." Is that true? I'd like to hear from anyone who has had experience with my type of yeast infection and find out how long it took to be cured and what is the best treatment. Does anyone know of a doctor that specializes in, or is especially knolwedgeable about yeast infections? Please email me.
