3 years ago I slipped on a wet floor and sustained a fracture of the neck of my left hip. The Dr was afraid of osteonecrosis and performed a total hip replacement. Being only in my early fifties, you can imagine my devastation and concern. I need not have worried. Although there was considerable pain immediately before and following the op. I was walking on crutches after 3 days and 6 weeks down the line, walking unaided. I would suggest though, that you go to a good biokineticist or physiotherapist for some correct therapy after the first 4 weeks of convalescence. They know exactly what exercises you should do to heal you muscles. Now there is absolutely no pain and I do 99% of what I did before the op. Mostly I forget that I'm missing a joint of my own! Do not have fear, if you have faith in your orthopedic surgeon, you will be well on your feet very soon. Good luck.
