About 30 yrs ago my sister (then aged 30)was diagnosed with M Gravis. At first the synmptoms were double vision and weakened muscles, but gradually the condition worsened until she was hospitalised in St Barts. MG is a very rare condition usually affecting younger people, and at that time there was no known sure cure. As my sister lay at death's door, unable to swallow or communicate, a surgeon suggested the removal of the thymus gland which lies behind the breast bone. This is a major operation and the risk factor was thought to be very high. But we gave the gohead and the op took place. From that moment recovery was rapid and today at 60+ she is perfectly fit. The only sign of the past problem is a long scar on her chest. Hope this is helpful
