I was rear-ended Sept 2000 - I have a very large hernaited disc (L 4-5) according to a ct scan. The pain was severe however after an epidural injection in march the pain has eased considerably. I am on vioxx. I can get through most days free of pain. At night I have to take T3s because within an hour of falling asleep I wake up with leg pain. The Doc says that the herniation will always be there and the only remedy is to have it surgically removed. 1. Is this correct? 2. Will the pain return when the effect of the epidural injection wears off? If anyone can help me I'd appreciate it
