Jane, Aside from the drugs, keep active. What NSAIDs drugs have you tried? The methotrexate is not NSAIDs. Tell your Doctor about ENBREL developed by IMMUNEX. This was developed for Arthritis but there are current studies for use of this drug by people with AS. The reports say that people who don't respond well to methotrexate or other disease modifying drugs, do so with ENBREL. But don't get your hopes up too much as this was only recently approved by the FDA. Diet is important, I have discovered that by reducing red meat and dairy products intake helps a lot. Fruit and veg are good. Most important is exercise and posture. I know you said you can't lay flat on your bed, but try to. Stretching exercise is good too. Hope this helps.
