I'm finding conflicting info on the net on this. Generally, it's considered to be hereditary, but the environment plays a big part too. Is it always hereditary? What about if a parent has it, and the parent is in his/her sixties or seventies? 1 in 5 women over 75 have it, which makes me think it's not hereditary the older you get (kind of like cancer). I'm just trying to figure out what the odds are that myself and brothers/sisters would get Hashimoto's disease are. Our Dad, age 62, has it. Does anyone have a link to somewhere on the net where we could calculate our odds? Any responses appreciated.
