There is a new drug called ASLERA which is being evaluated by the FDA at present,it is the first new drug for lupus in 40 years and if approved it should be by June 26 of this month. Aslera is a pure and potent form of DHEA which is available in drug stores and health food stores. While the drug is awaiting approval, some doctors have recommended it to lupus patients since DHEA seems to offer relief and there is nothing else like it, no serious side effects. DHEA so far is safe and it was in the news some years ago as a youth enhancing drug and many millions of people were taking it for improved health. Lupus patients may try it and see what results they get or talk to their doctor, he/she may have heard about DHEA and ASLERA. However, it would be advisable for long term users to wait for the Aslera to be approved since dosage would be more scientifically formulated. Best regards.
