While in the Navy I took a fall down a "ladder" I caught my right foot on the top rung and fell backwards, riding down the complete ladder on my back hitting all of my vertibrae. From that time on I had a problem with my right leg "giving out from under me" causing me to stumble or fall. The Navy diagnosed it as "traumaatic arthritis". they never checked my back because all of the problem at that time was in my right leg. After being dx with Bulbar ALS last year, during the testing they did a MRI of my complete head and spine showing what one tech. said was damage to most of my spine from t=1 all the way to my tail bone, the final report said that it was damage from arthritis, I thik that they were both correct and the dx should have been "Traumatic Arthritis" Does anyone know of any tests showiong a connection between this diagnosis and ALS. I have been given 10% service connected disability for the damage to my hip, but I think that the leg "giving out" is from my back. and If I can connect it to the ALS I can get the VA to take care of me, with 100% Disability, which would be a great help with our financies at the present.
