Hi,I have had Menieres since I was 22 years old. I'm 37 now. I know exactly what you are going through with your 10 year old. My 14 year old son started having trouble when he was 12 and had his first severe attack on his 13th birthday a year ago. Since then he has had all the positive tests and has lost 50dB of hearing in one of his ears. Almost exactly one year later, (about 2 months ago) My 9 year old daughter had her first attack. I understand what it is like to be on both sides of this illness and would be happy to talk to you. The Menieres in my family looks to be genetic. (my brother and father had it as well). Although it is rare in kids it deffinately does occur. Prosper Meniere first discovered the disease in a 14 year old girl. There are other kids out there with the illness.
