My teenaged daughter started having fainting and near faining spells about a year ago. Routine lab work all checked out okay. She was seen by a cardiologist, who had her wear a holter monitor for 24 hours. This too checked out okay. She's sick with a virus this week, and feels faint and lightheaded off and on. The pediatrician feels it is really due to her being sick along with her tendency to become faint. I think that if it keeps up, I'm going to push to have her seen by a neurologist to rule out anything serious or needing treatment. It does sound like this is a fairly common and benign condition, though, judging by the reaction of physicians. I find it worrysome, however. Good luck- you are certainly not alone.
