Our son is 9 yrs. old and was diagnosed with Encopresis at three after being hospitalized twice for it. He had had all of the tests for any other possible problems and they finally told us that it was behavioral and we needed to be more strict with our son. We finally found a doctor that diagnosed him with Encopresis and we started to get him cleaned out. It took a tube down the nose running to his stomach and a week in the hospital on Golightly before he was clean- it was heartbreaking to watch. Since then it has been a constant battle to keep him on Meds and cleaned out, he has been hospitalized for it twice since. The doctor he had left and we have not found anyone helpful since. Now that he is 9 Encopresis is becoming a problem at school and he is often depressed and angry. We are trying to get him to another doctor but feel helpless to do anything for him though we are working closely with the school and a counselor recently. Any suggestions? Worried sick about his emotional state due to the teasing he gets all the time.
