Julie, I too am 36 years old and have been diagnosed with bursitis of my left hip. I unfortunately let the problem go too long and have not been able to heal properly because of it. My pain started 3-4 years ago and finally I decided to get something done about it about a year and a half ago. I have had 3 cortizone/steroid shots. The first two helped only temporarily and the third shot has helped releive only some of the pain. I have seen a orthopoedic dr. who gave me the third shot and has started me on physical therapy. The therapy he ordered was ultrasound ES. It started working right away, I got alot of my flexibility back and the pain started subsidding. Unfortunately, I had a reaction to the ice after my stretching and I broke out so I had to stop therapy 2/3 of the way through. The pain has started to return so my dr. as re-ordered the ultrasound which I am so happy about. You may want to give it a try. It has been the only method of treatment that has helped the most. I am also on vioxx which I honestly can't tell the difference while on it. If you have any questions or just want to chat I'd love to. I understand what you are going through. I don't lead a normal life any more and being 36 it is so frustrating and depressing. I started seeing a positive light with the ultrasound and I pray that these next treatments cure this problem because it can be so agonizing. Good Luck. HOpe to hear from you. Patti
