Yes. I had an episode 5 years ago and survived. I was asymptomatic until I threw up at night, got distended and weaker the next day. I coded in the ER, had septic shock and a blood ph below 7.0. I had emergency surgury resulting in an ileostomy and was placed on life support. I was transfered to a major medical center where I had most of the rest of my colon removed along with my gall bladder. Total time in the hospital was about 4 weeks with 3 weeks on a ventilator. I also had to undergo filtration for my kidneys. There was no cancer, blood disease or clotting disorder. It has been 5 years since my episode and I am healthy. I have all my cognitive abilities and physical abilities. 2 blood supplies were involved, but not the 3rd to the abdomen. No one knows why. My bowels were not normal from birth and frankly work much better with an ileostomy. Be careful, because this can be a silent killer. I asked if I was hit by a truck.
