I have been dianosis with COPD/BRONCHIECTASIS after I had a PFT and CT scan. My doctor said that this could have been caused by heavy coughing. I explained that I lived and worked on a ship for over 3 years being exposed daily to asbestoes and one night I woke up after the asbestoes insulation on a steam pipe fell into my bunk and I had it down my throat in my eyes and I though that I would choke to death. I coughed for weeks and coughed up some blood and brown stuff. For about two years I would somedays have coughing spasms. This stopped but about 35 years later I started having breathing problems. My doctor says that this might have been caused by the caused by asbestoes but she can't say for sure. I have had two other doctors look at the scans and they say that they can't say that asbestoes caused my problems. Why can't they tell? I need all available Information. Also why does the head pulmonary Doctor at OKC VA say that asbestoes can't cause COPD? Thank You!
