I am 47 year old male. About six months ago when I took up soccer again after a long hiatus, I started having problems with blisters and then hard, discoloured skin forming on my heels and pressure points, subsequently cracking and becoming painful to walk on. At first it was treated as Athlete's foot. I am now being seen by a dermatologist who says that I traumatized my feet and the body's response was to form the hard skin. Treatment consists solely of scraping the hard skin away with a scalpel to trick the body into replacing it with softer skin. He also gave me some vaseline but nothing topical. He says this condition could last for years. However, I am also now having a problem with my hands. The ends of my fingers feel like they have been dipped in crazy glue. They eventually crack and also become painful. I think it is the same problem as my feet, but the doctor thinks it is something different probably an allergic reaction of some sort and has basically ignored it concentrating solely on the feet.
