Concerned Sister
Message 1 of 1
I am a high school student with a younger sister who is in 8th grade who doesn't have the highest self esteem. I have done reserach previously on eating disorders, and I am suspecting my sister has one. She is very thin, and while not thin enough to be harmful or unhealthy, she still insists she should lose weight. She is constantly concerned about what she ate and how many fat grams she intakes. She often begs "not to make pizza" or such so she will not be tempted to eat it. She is also always obsessing over how she looks and won't wearing bathing suits because she is unhappy with her apperance. Her symptoms are not always constant, and she will every once in a while indulge in something fatty, but it has gotten worse and worse. I've apporached her about it several times, and she laughs and insists it is normal and everyone worries as much as she does. I've also approached my parents, and they do not think it is abnormal. Could I be paranoid, or could she have a problem? Could it just be an acute eating disorder? If you could please email with responses or advice, it would be appreciated.
