Dave
I was diagnosed with this disease at age 14, as well as colon problems, and have had it for 13 years. I started out on Prednisone and Dipentum, and was on a very low dose for 12 years. I have minor cirrhosis, and am now on Imuran, with no symptoms of colon problems. This disease has not limited any activity for me; I am still very active in sports and work. A positive attitude is a must, as well as repeated bloodwork to monitor the disease. I have heard of a case where a 50 year old women was diagnosed, and is taking NO medication now. It depends on the amount of damage that was done before the disease was recognized. My oringinal Dr. was in Miami, FL, and my current Dr. is at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL, due to relocation of my job. I used to travel to Miami for check-ups; whatever it took for a healthy life. I was told that most people who are diagnosed with this disease are women in their upper teens.
