I HAVE THREE CHILDREN, 4,6,&9, WE FIRST NOTICED THESE SPOTS ON THE TWO YOUNGER ONES AND AFTER INSPECTION NOTICED A FEW ON OUR OLDER CHILD. WE TOOK THEM TO A REG. MD AND HE SAID THEY WERE WATER WARTS AND NOT TO WORRY THEY WOULD GO AWAY ON THEIR OWN. AFTER A YEAR OF NOTHING HAPPENING WE TOOK THEM TO A PEDIATRICIAN. HE SAID THAT THEY WERE JUST SURFACE LESIONS AND THAT THEY COULD BE CUT OFF BUT SINCE THEY REALLY WEREN'T HURTING ANYTHING TO LEAVE THEM ALONE. WE TOOK THE KIDS TO A DERMATOLOGIST HE SAID THEY WERE A VIRAL WART AND THAT THEY WOULD DEVELOP A RASH AND THEN GO AWAY ON THEIR OWN. WELL IT HAS NOW BEEN THREE YEARS AND MY SON ,AGE4, HAS ABOUT THIRTY OF THEM ON HIS BOTTOM. I TOOK HIM TO ANOTHER PEDIAT. YESTERDAY AND HE FINALLY DIAGNOSED HIM WITH MOLLUSCUM AND A SEVERE CASE OF ECZEMA. WE ARE TREATING THE ECZEMA WITH TOPICAL CREAMS, BUT HE SAID THAT SINCE HE HAS HAD MOLLUSCUM FOR THREE YEARS THAT THEY NEEDED TO BE CUT OFF. WE WILL BE GOING IN TWO WEEKS TO HAVE THEM REMOVED. OUR SIX YEAR OLD NOW ONLY HAS THREE ON ONE ARM AND ONE ON THE TOP OF HER FOOT SO WE WILL PROBABLY LEAVE THEM ALONE. OUR 9 YR OLD HAD ABOUT TWENTY ON THE BACKS OF HER THIGHS BUT SHE JUST KEPT SCRATCHING THEM UNTIL THEY WENT AWAY. IF ANYONE KNOWS WHAT CAUSES THIS, OR OF A DIFFERENT SOLUTION TO MY SONS REMOVAL, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I REALLY WOULD PREFER NOT TO HAVE THEM CUT OFF.
