I'm 34 and just getting over cervical cancer myself and had the leeds done a month and a 1/2 ago. I can tell you that the leeds test is basically just like the pap with the exception they put you under for it- so you get to sleep through it. Basically, it took about 20-25 minutes and then some time in the recovery room but I was home within a few hours. Not much pain at all and more like you feel if you having a heavy menstrual cycle which you'll bleed/discharge for a little while and will have to wear maternity pads for a few days and then it's down to pantyliners for a few more. I certainly recommend taking care of it ASAP. Also, they recommend that we go for a pap every 2 months between 1-2 years until we are no longer high-risk. Then it's back to the usual bi-annual exam. Hope this helps and best of luck to you all. For the lady who asked about the symptoms......irribility for me was often, especially on humid days and I had a discharge like a watered down milky looking substance. Some days I would just leak. Sorry but it's the only way I can describe it. It was more wet than say a yeasty discharge you'd have from a yeast infection.
