I was diagnosed with Narcolepsy about a month ago. The first medication the Dr. put me on was Provigil. I started taking 200mg at 7:00am, it made me feel alert all day, but I couldn't go to sleep until 2 or 3 a.m.. I called the Dr. they cut me back to 100mg, I was so tired by this time, that I couldn't even tell I had taken the Provigil, except it kept me awake until 1 to 2 a.m. I called the Dr., I just got a different prescription. This time he gave me a prescription for 5mg of Ritalin. Is this a usual treatment? I didn't know Ritalin would make you more alert. I'm confused. Can someone tell me about this kind of treatment for Narcolepsy?
