For the past two years I have been dealing with my slow thyroid (likely hereditary) by taking kelp & a thyroid support tablet available through my health food store. The main thing is that your own thyroid is still functioning, once you start taking a thyroid replacement, you are on it for life. As long as I've kept with the tablets daily, I have kept my tsh levels down. I am interested if there is anyone else out there that has tried self treatment & how long you were able to keep it under control. I'm not ready to commit to a replacement hormone just yet!!, I'm still in my early 30's and would like to try and keep my own thyroid working.
