My mother was diagnosed 6 years ago with Temporal arteritis and was treated with heavy doses of prednisone including intravenously to help restore her sight and reduce the swelling of the temporal artery. The therapy continued for 2 years. At the conclusion, the heavy doses destroyed the cartilege in her knees. She now walks with bone on bone and has tried every cream, pill, and supplement supposed to recreate cartilege. Nothing has worked. Her legs have atrophied to a point where she uses a cane and hobbles. If anybody has any therapies that have successfully worked to overcome steroid myopathy, we would appreciate any doctors, test trials or medications that provide hope. Thanks.
