My mom developped jaundice in Jan/01 and what the doctors thought was a stone has turned out to be a small tumuour blocking the pancreatic drain. They have inserted a plastic drain from the pancreas and she has been told that she will be undergo a whipple Apr 02/01. She's 62yrs old and has more energy and spunk than I do. We don't know anything about the tumour they say it appears to be cancerous. The mystery will remain until she's operated on. They tell me the operation can last anywhere from 3-14 hours and that she will be in a lot of pain in the days that follow. Can anyone tell me more about the surgey, aftermath, drugs and just simple good advice that we should know about. Like a lot of other people have mentionned there is not a lot of information available and I don't anticipate that the hospital will be sharing their bad news experiences with us. Thanks in advance and best of luck to everyone who has already walked in our shoes. God bless.
