Dear Concerned Grandparents, keep your grandson in your prayers and never close you dreams for him. He with a good education program and good nutritionaly support may very well grow up to be able to function quite independently and work even. My 9 year old is also on the spectrum, but he is learning and growing at his own pace. He needs a quiet life, but I also have a cousin with the disorder. He is 24, he holds down 2 jobs. His first is to have paper routes. This allows him to work independently in the quiet time of day, before the rest of the world rouses. His other job is working in the back at a restaurant. He started as the dishwasher, he is a hard worker and watched all the time. Often now he is allowed to do short order cooking. He lives in a private entrance apartment in his parent's home. He does errands for his grandma and an elderly great aunt. Some say Bill Gates is autistic too. Hermits have been with us always....... and Old bachelors, don't forget to love him . Best to you.
