64 year old active female had both total hip replacements .... has been 3/4 years now ..... had non-cemented procedure ...... helped sigificantly, but still have some pain ..... however, think maybe the continuing pain maybe due to lower back disk, etc., etc.... getting old not for wimps ..... recovery, including physical therapy, up to a year depending on individual; suggest looking into water therapy if available ..... also suggest lots of family/friend support as it's a long, slow process; if you live alone, depression can be problem, but fairly easily and comfortbly remedied by family doctor or orthopedic (get in a hurry; forgive spelling, writing style, etc.) any specific questions, I'll be happy to try to answer; it's not one of life's more joyous experience, but considering the alternative----pain, reduced activity/quality of life,psychological/emotional effect-----go for it and God Bless
