I was ordered to have a colonoscopy because of family history (father died of colon CA at age 51). Don't mind having the procedure, but am scared to death of the sedation, since I am very sensative to many drugs. Also had a bad experience last year when I had a short surgery (even had to be treated for post-traumatic stress after it). Not afraid of pain- had a forceps rotation without any local, spinal or general anesthesia when I delivered my son. Had surgery on my wrist and endured the tourniquet without any conscious sedation or premedication with that procedure. Would rather stay conscious and endure the discomfort, since pain means you are still very much alive. Has anyone out there had the procedure without drugs?
