Hi, As an ophthalmic tech, I see many cases of conjunctivitis. There are different types of conjunctivitis (pink eye) and there are some that are extremely contagious and some that are only contagious thru very close contact. You may want to call the ophth office and ask them to give you a detailed note for your job and also ask them why your case is being treated so carefully. Whenever there are different dr's, there will always be varied advice on how to avoid spreading the conj. Also there is allergic conjunctivitis which isn't at all contagious and perhaps the other teacher has this type. It is really best to doublecheck with the dr and tell him why you are asking. He shouldn't mind answering your questions. Good Luck! PS- You are not a wimp...you were just looking out for the kids. Be esp careful to wash your hands often and don't touch your eyes when out.
