hello i can understand what you are going through. see you told that you are on prednisone and have polymyalgia rheumatica. well prednisone is prescribed in polymyalgia rheumatica when you have temporal arteritis as well. so i am presuming that you have temporal arteritis. and this thing answers your questions. see this is a kind of vasculitic lesion mostly involving temporal artery but can involve any of the systemic artery. this lesion is also associated with things like cladication of the extremities, strokes , myocardial infarction, aneurysms and dissections and other cardio vascular symptoms like you mentioned sudden strong heart beats. well now you must be wondering as to why only in early morning .....well the reason for that lies in the biological cycle controlled by the brain . this results in incresed levels of stress hormones like cortisol in the body.[ no wonder most of the people get heart attacks during early mornings]. i hope you have understood. if you want to ask anything else please feel free.
