I developed a major blood clot to my liver after a 19hr flight to South America. Within two weeks upon my arrival I was diagnosed with Budd Chiari Syndrome(Portal Vein Thrombosis)and a Portal Schuntz was inserted into my abdomen to get blood flowing to my liver again. The Portal Schuntz did not work 100% and I had been in and out of the hospital for the last two years until I got a liver transplant in Oct.2000. My life has been totally turn around because of this clotting and thanks to the donor of the liver I am alive today and able to slowly get back to my old self. If anybody has any information regarding DVT or had a similar experience after a long flight please write back and let me know of any information you might want to share with me. I live in Vancouver, Canada
