My husband is taking coumidin due to an artificial heart valve. He is diabetic. He has GI bleeds on the drug with no known cause despite 4 Upper and lower GI tests. His skin seems to be breaking down. He has venous statis ulcers with the Achilles tendon exposed at one time, but it is now healing with hyberic treatments. However, in the course of treatment he has developed a pressure sore on his heal which now threatens his leg. Sometimes it seems he has scratches all over-even in places he could not reach. Could coumidin be causing or worsening some of his symptoms? Given the valve, what else is there? His diabetes is well controlled.
