Hi: I'm a 36 yr. old female who was diagnosed with reiter's syndrome in may '98 after a serious incident of food poisoning in Europe - my left foot swelled up so bad I couldn't walk and then my knees, neck and elbows joined in...it lasted 3 months as the doctors predicted and then went away - but for 3 months I could barely get out of bed and at one point I jumped in a taxi with no shoes and took myself to emergency as I could have sworn they misdiagnosed me and my neck was borken...(I do have the marker for rs in my blood). I have occassional flare ups when I get run down or sick. Recently, I have been diagnosed with gout too - same foot - and I'm wondering if these are related? I also have a lot of lower back pain....manageable most of the time but sometimes flares up so bad I can't walk...and then subsides with ani-inflammatory drugs. I quit drinking 3 days ago and am avoiding red meat...any advice would be very much apprecited. Thanks!
