My best friend names her problem as colitis. 5 to 8 years ago she went to a specialist at Univ. of Penna. Hosp. She says he told her that "the food you eat can be expelled 15 to 20 minutes later as diarrhea." She says this is what happens to her. I was horrified and have tried to find confirmation of what she said. I can find nothing. Is this true? She periodically has flare-ups and I can see that clearly the stress she has is an underlying factor, but to think that food can pass through the stomach and small intestine to the large intestine in such a short amount of time seems unbelievable to me. Does anyone have any information to enlighten me?
