In August of last year my pap smear came back abnormal. My GYN Dr. then performed a colposcopy including biopsies which determined I have moderate Cervical Dysplasia and HPV virus. My GYN informed me HPV caused the Dysplasia. I do not have genital warts. There are around 70 different types of HPV virus. Certain ones cause warts on the hands feet genitals and some affect the cervix. HPV is a skin virus. My GYN Dr. then did a freezing of the abnormal area on my cervix. 3 months later I had to have another PAP test which came back normal. MY GYN Dr. recommended lazor vaporization surgery which is more comfortable for the patient because you are under sedation and the GYN has more flexibility with the lazor as opposed to freezing (cryo) and with the lazor surgery the entire cervix is treated as opposed to just the abnormal area with the freezing method. In Nov last year I had the lazor surgery done and in Feb this year I have to go for a repeat PAP test. The day of the surgery I had no discharge or discomfort at all. A couple days after I had watery discharge then bleeding which wasn't heavy and lasted for about 4 weeks. Anyone else have the similiar experience??? I just met a wonderful guy and I am embarrased and confused wondering if I am contagious and I am afraid to have sex. I hope my experience was informative due to there being hardly any information about post surgery and prognosis and other women's personal experience with this scary and confusing condition.
