Hi! It's so cool to read letters from others with the same condition as me!Unlike everyone else who's letters i've read i'm from North Queensland AUSTRALIA. I am married 34 years old and have 4 beautiful little girls. I don't know anyone else with MSK so please email me i'd love to hear from you!!! Timmy i'm also a chocoholic is good stuff hey! It seems that your Dr has mislead you - MSK is not hereditary although there is a familiar tendency! MSK is a congenital (birth) defect! Basically it means that the tubules within the kidneys are dilated or abnormally widened and irregular in diameter which causes urine to pool and leads to infections and stone formation. Normally the stones are calcium oxalate and the only good thing about that is that they respond well to lithotripsy!! Like many of the others who have written in to this site I also have constant pain in my left kidney - which the Dr's don't seem to be able to explain. I have thousands of stones with my left kidney being worse than the right and am told I will never be rid of them all and am constantly forming more also!! Permantly stoned!!! I would love to hear from anyone else out there with Medullary Sponge Kidneys!! Have a great day!!
