Abdominal Recurring Incisional Hernia's

Terry

Message 1 of 3 Next

I have had three surgical procedures in the past two years to repair a hernia in my abdomen. Case history: Surgery 1: Partial Colon resection with colostomy. Due to ruptured sigmod colon from diverticulitis. Surgery 2: Colostomy Reversal. Surgery 3: Incisional Hernia repair. Surgery 4: Same as 3 Surgery 5: same as 3. The doctor told me that I had a 6.5 inch hernia last time. He removed the two previous meshes and installed an 8 inch mesh this time. My question is: Is there another method for repairing abdominal hernias other than mesh? It appears that my muscle tissue is so week from all the surgeries I have incountered that the mesh will not hold. This last surgery I was hospitalized for 6 days. Please can someone offer any hope to end this string of surgeries I continue to encounter. At the current time I do not have any reassurance that this will not reoccurr again. What happens next time and then the next. Five operations over 2.5 years is excessive and has cause me great pain. Has anyone out there experienced what I have?
