My mother was just diagnosed with Alopecia Areata. She is 52 years old and completely freaked out.She has already gotten her first cortisone shot and is due for two more. The doctor told her that if it was going to work it would work by the third shot, after that there's not much that can be done. There has got to be some new treatments inaddition to Zinc,Cortisone, and the other treatments already available. How can I find out more about this and is it hereditary?Should I be concerned for my self and my two children? What can we do to help her deal with this?
