SHOCK
I was diagnosed with collagenous colitis in Feb of 94 after having biopsies taken during a colonoscopy. My doctor not knowing anything about this disease along with myself sought information and I was put on the drug called Dipentum. Last year my symptoms became worse and I returned to the doctor who sent me to a surgeon who in turn sent me to a gastroentologist because he felt that I should have another colonoscopy done. This gastro in idiot as I call him now refused to help me. Number one saying that I was too young to have collagenous colitis. I am presently 45 and was originally diagnosed at the age of 39. He would not believe what I told him about the colonoscopy and the biopsies taken and the results that came from them. Unfortunately I come from a rather small town and the doctors are few so I just gave up and live a life of hell with my disease. My symptoms of diarreah are not one of seldom far and few in betweeen. I have many, daily, and nightly episodes day after day that have also left me dehydrated to the point of hospitalization on several occasions. But they treat that and send me back on my way. I don't know if you or others have such severe troubles with your disease. I hope not, but I would like to know if you or others do or is mine just a severe case. And does anyone have information that might help me.
