...these "fatty acids" are what convert into tryptophan and ultimately into serotonin. You can find these in such things as Evening Primrose capsules at almost any healthfood store. This is now an accepted treatment for PMS symptoms, being a solid source of GLA or gammalinoleic acid ("fatty acids" as above). Tryptophan is a precursor to serotonin, and can be found in things such as warm milk...and YES -- TURKEY! Ever wondered why at family dinners such as Christmas...Thanksgiving where turkey is served -- after any in-law or family squabbles -- everyone falls asleep in front of the TV or mellows out?? Could it be because of the abundant tryptophan-serotonin from the turkey? And why for so long has warm milk, as a folk remedy, been advised before bedtime? Hmmmmmmm.... Also, CHOCOLATE has been shown to boost serotonin...but specifically the "dark" and/or "bittersweet" type (not milk-chocolate) which contains much more of the actual cocoa-bean substances. Used to be a supplement on the market called "L-trypophan" which was incredibly effective, especially for solid and peaceful sleep!! Tried it myself and actually had to be IN the bed ready to sleep -- and took it right before lights out... because it was pretty close as to whether I'd be out before I had a chance to hit the lamp switch! However, this was taken off the market quite a few years ago (like comfrey and other herbs) when someone had a "bad reaction" to it. NOW, of course, you get restricted, costly and synthetic prescription drugs instead! However, until "THEY" figure out how to licence FOOD... you can still obtain substantial boosting of serotonin through non-prescription means! LYNDA
