I have never had a cervical suture put in, but work as a midwife in the UK. They usually put them in at about 16 weeks gestation and then remove them at about 37 weeks or if you go into labour. They are put in if the Obstetrician thinks that the cervix may open without any stimulous from labour. If your body is going to labour anyway it won't stop that, but it may help prevent the cervix opening on it's own. When you do actually go into labour at whatever gestation you MUST have Antibiotic cover during labour and your baby may also need Antibiotics if you didn't get enough cover for labour, (it depends how quick you labour) Hope this helps in some way and you have a successful pregnancy.
