my son has experienced right foot pain & swelling for about 6 months to a year now--upon going in to biopsy yesterday,part of the bone was discovered to be "mush" like in his foot. Bone cores were taken also for pathology, and the soft mush like stuff was cleaned out. What could it be?? The pain has not increased but is pretty much always there with increased swelling and redness by the end of the day.Many years ago he had a foot injury when a twig punctured the bottom of his foot, but xrays at the time showed no wood chips left in his foot. Could the current problem have resulted from this trauma??? He is 34 years old.
