I have recently been diagnosed with fms, even though I have been suffering the symptoms for over 2 yrs. I also have hypothyroidism and am taking a combination of t4 & t3 supplements (synthroid and cytomel).I am currently on "amitriptyline" for the fms, which I understand one of the side effects is weight gain. I am so frustrated as I have been trying to lose weight and having hypothyroidism does not help and to top it all of being placed on med that causes weight gain !!! Does anyone know of any other med that can replace my "amitriptyline" and provide all the beneficial effects at the same time (pain relief, sleep, anti-depressant) ?
