I have had IC for many years, as well. I know, all too well, the pain and suffering one has to endure. I have taken pain meds. but was afrid of becoming an addict. I've had DMSO. Helped some, but was so inconvenient to leave work every week...and smell like garlic. My Dr. did a hydrodistention under anesthesa, and this seemed to be most helpful. He also coated my bladder with some kinds of meds. This had the most lasting effect. Lasted for about a year, and seemed my IC was in remission. But, do we have to live our lives having surgery once every year or two? I'm fed up too!!! Hope this helps...you're definitely not alone. I feel sometimes that I'm living my life in a dream...like I'm not even really here. How nice it would be to live a pain free life, and not have to hang out in the ladies room al the time. Or when you're out somewhere, not have to worry about where the bathroom is and am I gonna make it?
