I too have Spinal Stenosis & I had an laminectomy with fusion. However each case is different. I was told that exercise is very good but you need a physical therapist to give you the proper exercises for spinal stenosis which is building up your upper torso and strenghthening the legs. I know that sitting relieves the pain and standing & walking is painful. I haven't had much luck with pain suppressants as they do not really relieve the pain and could be dangerous to other internal organs They make you sleepy for a short time and it is hard to function. I do find some relief with cold compresses. I also find that if you need to go shopping, by wheeling a cart it takes the pressure off to a degree. You really are too young to have this malady and hope you will pursue relieving it. Good Luck Gertrude
