I know this is probably a late reply to your e-mail but after reading it I felt like I should let you know that the exact same thing happened to me. The surgery is the greatest decision that I ever made. I felt the same way..in that it was a decision made too quickly by the doctors...but in the long run I have had absolutely no re-occurrence of spontaneous pnueomothorax in 2 years. Prior to the surgery I had the pneumothorax 3 times, each accompanied by a chest tube and a 5 day stay in the hospital. It is really the only way to assure that it can't happen again on that side of the lund.
