my mother recently had a tetanus shot because it had been over 10 years since her last. The nurse gave the shot in her shoulder joint, a place my mother was concerned about. my mother had serious complications with massive swelling in the joint and pain. She went back to the Dr. and he said she was having an allergic reaction and gave her medication. The inflammation went down gradually but after awhile she developed "frozen shoulder" and has been seeking medical attention for that. she has been off work for 2 months because of her shoulder and is very discouraged. she believes the "frozen shoulder" happened as a result of the shot being given too near her shoulder joint (bone). Could she be right? does anyone know where exactly a tetanus shot is to be administered on the body because the nurse claims that was the proper location, but I have never had one there. I'm concerned the nurse made a mistake although she vehemently denies it. Can anyone help me find out if the vaccination location was administered incorrectly and how I could verify that information. my mother believes and so do I that her shoulder would not be in this condition if not for that tetanus shot being given too close to the shoulder joint.
