My second grade son is color blind and has strong indicators of the presence of visual perception, visual motor and visual planning difficulities when tested for the "gifted" program at school. He is currently in the gifted program and doing great. He is one of the top math students and works with 3rd, 4th and 5th grade math wonderfully. The problem is since none of these problems seems to be affecting his academics further testing was not suggested at this time. He also was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in the past six months. He is dealing well with everything. But his art teacher has said he is not trying. This is beginning to take a toll on his self esteem. I believe he is frustrated between the color blindness and possible visual learning issues. The only place this is affecting him is art class. What would be an appropriate solution to this art class? Please help.
