I had surgery for kyphosis/scoliosis.The first time was a disaster. They took a rib out(to use for bone fusion)that i'll never get back. And even worse this doctor didnt straighten my spine so it fused in a curved position and now i have more pain than ever. Now,i'm going to a real doctor at The famous Cleveland Clinic and he uses minimally invasive surgery(scope and laser i believe)and he doesnt need to take a rib out.He also uses rods and pedicle screws(rods and HOOKS cause more damage to spine and surrounding muscle, believe me i know)He has great success with this type of surgery and says he can straighten me out much more than first operation,so wish me luck.So i would say to you 1.Find a good doctor(what is a good doctor?)someone who can use the minimally invasive surgery so they dont take a rib out and can get a good amount of correction. It's horrible to have your spine fused in a curved position. At least before i could lie down and straighten my spine and have it manipulated by a chiropractor.
