Jordan is my 3 1/2 year old son and is now doing very well. At 5 days old, he was diagnosed with an interventricular hemorrhage. This was actually congenital hydrocephalus. At 4 weeks of age, a VP shunt was placed and we were told that it would be lifelong. We went to Duke University Medical Center for regular CTs and checkups and things were fine until the summer of 1999 when his shunt became infected. At that time, our doctor had to remove the internal shunt and place an external shunt temporarily. This was going well, so our doctor decided to do the ventriculostomy procedure and for Jordan, it has been amazing. He is doing great! It has truly been a miracle for us!!
