That's not unusual. Thyroiditis usually resolves itself following a period of inflamation of the thyroid gland - I have been having TSH and T4 fluctuations sporadically for a couple of years. The "hypo" phase usually lasts longer than the "hyper" phase, but unless the hormone levels are consistently too high or low over an extended period of time, medication shouldn't be required, and the thyroid will regulate itself.
